The Alliance was created in Paris on 21 July 1883 by a group of eminent men, including the scientist Louis Pasteur, the diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, the writers Jules Verne and Ernest Renan, and the publisher Armand Colin.

It finances most of its activities from the fees it receives from its courses and from rental of its installations.

We have organized a silent auction in their offices on February 27th as well as an exhibit of the incredible Panoramic Photography created by Olivier Pojzman. Proceeds will go directly to the Alliance to promote a culture we cherish.

Heinzmann started her career as a singer in 2005 in a rock band called Bigfisch. In summer 2007 she applied for Raab’s talent contest SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD in Germany and got selected as one of the 20 finalists. With interpretations of soul, jazz and funk classics by the likes of Macy Gray, Norah Jones and Joss Stone she reached the final show on January 10, 2008. There she finally defeated the remaining three competitors in the televoting, winning a contract with Universal Music.

Her final song “My Man Is a Mean Man” – went on sale the day after the final. One week after its release the single debuted straight on top of the Swiss Singles Chart, also reaching the top 10 in Austria and Germany, where it became a sucessful airplay hit during the following months. Her debut album Masterplan, primarily produced by Paul NZA and Marek Pompetzki, was released on March 7, 2008 througout German-speaking Europe. Just as the singles, it made it to the top 10 in Austria and Germany and also debuted atop the album charts in Switzerland, where it was certified Gold by the IFPI for more than 15,000 copies sold.
